MOQ and project scope

What determines a perfume factory MOQ?

MOQ is usually a group of minimums, not one number. Ask how the liquid, components, decoration, carton and final assembly each affect the order before you compare suppliers.

MOQ is a group of separate minimums, not one factory-wide figure. Fragrance liquid, bottle and cap, decoration, carton and finished assembly can each set a limit.

MOQ reflects the proposed production route.

A new fragrance direction, a custom bottle, a printed carton and a market-specific document discussion do not create the same production requirements as an existing product base in stock components. The minimum may be driven by one component even if other parts of the project could be produced at a smaller quantity.

This is why a low headline MOQ may not describe the finished product you have in mind. Read it together with the listed product, packaging and services.

Ask which minimum applies to each part.

Reduce the number of variables in a first order.

If order flexibility matters, start by identifying what can use an existing route: a stock bottle, an available cap, a standard pump or a simpler printed carton. This is not a rule that every launch must follow. It is a way to isolate which choice is creating the higher minimum or longer lead time.

  • Keep a list of components that must be unique to the brand.
  • Ask for an alternative using available components if the proposed route is not practical.
  • Do not change fragrance, bottle, decoration and carton at the same time without asking how each change affects the project.

Ask for an MOQ explanation with the quotation.

Use one direct sentence: “Please state the minimum quantity for the proposed liquid, bottle/cap, decoration, carton and finished assembly, and identify which items are included in the quoted quantity.” This makes supplier replies much easier to compare.

Do not treat this page as a price calculator. Actual MOQ and timing depend on the final specification and must be confirmed by the supplier for the project.
